Avyaan began his One Football Championship journey representing South City FC, adapting to a new group of players and a fast, 5-a-side format. It has already brought out another side of his game — positional freedom, combination play, communication and the confidence to influence the game from wherever he finds himself on the pitch.

The story

Not only about goals.

In the opening games the team was so comfortable in possession that the boys began rotating positions naturally. Defensive midfielders became forwards, forwards dropped into midfield, and players simply took control of the ball from wherever they found themselves.

Even with comfortable leads, they often chose to pass to a team-mate rather than chase another goal. For Avyaan, it’s been a chance to enjoy football without the pressure of proving himself — asking for the ball, giving it back, moving to receive it again, helping team-mates into better positions.

Football played with confidence, freedom, and a little bit of swagger.

Learnings
Footballing highlights
  • Played across striker, winger and midfield.
  • Comfortable switching positions during 5v5 games.
  • Frequently asked for the ball and told team-mates where he wanted it.
  • Focused on receiving, passing and moving — not always looking for the final shot.
  • Strong cooperation with team-mates.
  • Confident in possession even away from his usual position.
  • Learned to manage his energy across multiple matches in a day.
What it’s teaching him
  • How to play with freedom.
  • How to trust team-mates.
  • How to rotate positions.
  • How to create rather than always finish.
  • How to respect opponents.
  • How to make room for other players.
  • How to enjoy football itself.

TeamworkThe three boys who once travelled together to watch an ISL match have a particularly natural understanding on the field — constantly rotating, swapping positions and looking for each other. Some of the most enjoyable football to watch.
